A support system!

proverbs 11:14

I’m sure we’ve heard the saying “iron sharpens iron” so many times, and probably less of this other saying from the good book of proverbs, 27:9 “a sweet friendship refreshes the soul”. Either way, ‘iron does sharpen iron, as one man sharpens another, and a sweet friendship does refresh the soul’.

If you haven’t guessed it yet, this is dedicated to all the amazing people that God has brought into my life in the past 2 years, those that I count myself privileged to call my friends, adopted family (more like by force family ..lol) and my actual family. I could go on to write a whole list of names and make this just a shout out, and be done with that, but I would rather highlight things God has brought into my life through a set of amazing people and what they’ve meant to me in the last 2 years.

Before I dive into a few of those in my support system( ps, I’m so blessed , i cant mention them all), let me just make sure we actually understand what a support system means. From google, a support system is ‘a network of people who provide an individual with practical or emotional support’ (this isn’t plagiarism). Now a support system isn’t just people you like or just friends and acquaintances or people around you or necessarily everyone in you family, they have to be a group of people with a positive EMOTIONAL, PHYSICAL, SPIRITUAL and MENTAL influence on you… its all 4 as a package or nothing at all. Therefore it is crucial to find the right group of people influencing your life. Easiest way to not go astray (pro 3:5-6), let God Guide you, (Isaiah 30:21, 58:11) let his holy spirit work through you (john 16:13).

People don’t normally believe me when I tell them I am an introvert, probably cause they normally see me talking away all the flipping time… but honestly I am… not completely, but I am. One thing I have noticed however, is that whenever God wants me to become friends with someone… I somehow just get this confidence inside, and I just go for it, even tho sometimes, well most of the time my approach is weird. Which is how I met my closest friend at uni freshers fair. She probably thought I was some creep for the first hr (lol) but honestly everyday I thank God for your life Crissy. She absolutely couldn’t measure how much God has been using her to bring me out of a dark place to where i’m at right now. The influence you have on me has brought joy, peace and love in places I kept hidden. If you ever need a personal cheerleader/ hype woman/ prayer partner/ honest opinions, ill give u her details.

You know how girls have that group chat where all they do is probably gossip and bad mouth, I have good version of this with 4 girls I met at PENSA camp, Emma, Zip, Priss Sheila. Thing is I already gave up on going to camp, Cause I didn’t wanna spend money I barely had, and CBA being thrown with strangers for 4 days, but God was God. Fast forward to the end of the camp I had been blessed with four amazing, beautiful and God fearing ladies, and right from the first night we waited like 2 hours for dominoes, I have being growing in ways I couldn’t have done on my own; from the talks we have, the advice, the conference I was able to be a speaker at, the ideas we rub mind on together to grow Gods kingdom, the controversial debates about issues in the church, the general support, the little bit of girl chitchat here and there, the full on investigative work (if u ever need an FBI agent, I have the best for you).

You 4 are a big chunk in the growth I’ve been experiencing, and I thank God for your lives and how God continues to use y’all (prov 15:22).

I thank God for my uni church, the last two years would have been a lot worse, if I didn’t have Sunday services to look forward to. If you’re ever in Leicester on a Sunday please check out CHROMA CHURCH. Micheala, thank you for every word of encouragement, support and revelations from God about my life and journey (prov 13:20). Syd, you said something to me one Sunday, and my life has not been the same since. It has led me on a journey of actively seeking change in my life and I am grateful to God that I heard those words from you specifically. Dami (with an accent), a sister from another mother (prov 18:24), you’ve pushed me and helped me do things out of my comfort zone, always ready to pray with and for me and just always making sure my relationship with God is intact. Your joy is contagious!

My beautiful brothers, my bodyguards, my confidants, and my friends. Bro and Div. Thanks a million.

Deffo being waffling on for a while… but Ralva, mama T, Alynson, Steven, Fifi, and soo many more, thank you for faithfully playing your parts in my journey. If I was to liken the past 2 years to the puzzle it has been , y’all are like the tabs that fit together to bring me to where I am at now.

This weirdly reads like some farewell text… lol.. by Gods grace.. y’all are stuck with me for a LONG while.

Ecclesiastes 4:9‭-‬12 GNT- Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively. If one of them falls down, the other can help him up. But if someone is alone and falls, it’s just too bad, because there is no one to help him. If it is cold, two can sleep together and stay warm, but how can you keep warm by yourself? Two people can resist an attack that would defeat one person alone. A rope made of three cords is hard to break.
